Michael Stipe reappears live to perform two REM songs
Michael Stipeleader of R.EM, surprised the audience by going on stage with the band they lead Michael Shannon and the musician Jason Narducy during a concert.
The singer performed the songs “These Days” and “The Great Beyond” with them. During the tour with which the actor Michael Shannon and musician Jason Narducy – currently a member of Sunny Day Real Estateamong others– and his band celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the album ""Lifes Rich Pageant".
The tour continues a series of tributes to the band's catalog, after revisiting albums such as ""Fables of the Reconstruction" and "Murmur". It's not the first time Stipe has joined them. A year ago they also performed “Pretty Persuasion” together at the same venue, the Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, New York.
Although the group broke up in 2011, its members: Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry, have made occasional appearances. But they maintain that there will not be a full band reunion.
